Accelerate to Zero Awards

The Accelerate to Zero Awards recognise the businesses, organisations and individuals making the biggest contribution to decarbonising the built environment and supporting the just transition to zero carbon.

During the ceremony held at Òran Mór in Glasgow, businesses, individuals and organisations will be celebrated for their contribution and dedication to decarbonising the built environment across 10 different categories.

Vote for your Accelerate to Zero Hero

This award celebrates a standout entrant who has made the most remarkable contribution to decarbonising the built environment. Whether it's an individual or organisation, the winner embodies exceptional dedication and impact in driving sustainability, innovation and positive impact on the built environment and society.

We are inviting BE-ST audiences to vote for a shortlisted entry that they think reflects the best overall effort, considering innovation, influence, contribution to the just transition and tangible results in reducing carbon emissions. The finalist with the most votes receives 100 additional points - the equivalent of one judge giving full marks.

  • Since starting a climate action community group in his own village, Zero Carbon Daviot, Matt has championed community action tirelessly. He frequently gives up his personal time to run community engagement events and in his professional life he champions action on the built environment through a range of activities and projects.

Matt’s architectural practice, mwclubb, in Aberdeen has developed a whole house retrofit service which has provided retrofit plans for 120 domestic dwellings and over 40 community buildings across the north east over the last 3 years. We’ve supported 35 of our domestic clients through the installation of measures, using local contractors, giving them the training and support they need. The practice is also helping Scottish Rugby and Scottish Gas decarbonise all 130 community rugby clubs across Scotland.

Matt also started the North East Scotland Retrofit Hub which has been delivering training and community awareness across the north east, helping the public realise the potential of our existing buildings and the opportunity in the context of the Just Transition.

Matt has constantly innovated the retrofit service to make it as accessible and robust as possible by developing internal processes and customer mobile apps for staff.
