Hosted by the CIWEM Scottish branch.
An in-person event to learn about ways to decarbonise the infrastructure needed for water and wastewater treatment, and flood alleviation. The event combines:
A tour of the Centre of Excellence for Mass Timber Innovation, Manufacturing & Research led by Ecosystems Technologies. This cutting-edge facility exists to help accelerate the adoption of homegrown mass timber solutions that can deliver low carbon construction solutions.
Presentation by Scottish Water and RSE about the development of a Timber Modular Build system – the RSE-TMB®. The RSE-TMB® relied on the Centre of Excellence for Mass Timber Innovation, Manufacturing & Research for its development. The RSE-TMB® is a modular off-site system that delivers low carbon enclosures to secure and protect the M&E and process engineering equipment used for water and wastewater treatment, and flood alleviation.
Presentation by Kenoteq about the development of the K‑BRIQ®. Born from a visionary idea during conversations on geo-environmental challenges in construction waste management between cross-disciplinary experts and fuelled by the need for truly sustainable building materials, Kenoteq was spun-out of Heriot Watt University in 2019.The outcome has been the K-BRIQ® which is the most innovative and low carbon brick in the market, featuring a core commitment to sustainability through circular economy processes. Boasting the lowest embodied carbon of any commercially available bricks, as well as the highest recycled waste content, the newly BBA-Certified K-BRIQ® holds UK and US granted patents and is now manufacturing at a commercial scale.
