The Educator Programme is a six-month agile leadership course, starting during BE-ST Fringe, aimed towards college management and educators in built environment. The course adopts a competency-based focus to support educators to reduce skills imbalances in the sector.
The programme is delivered by Built Environment-Smarter Transformation (BE-ST). BE-ST is Scotland’s Innovation Centre for construction and built environment and is already delivering programmes such as Low Carbon Learning and Passivhaus Practical to accelerate Scotland's journey towards net zero. The Educator Programme fills an exciting gap by supporting educators of the future workforce to be more agile in their competency delivery.
Course objective:
To support Educators to be more agile in their approach to teaching within the built environment and adopting a competency-based approach to education. All with the ambition to reduce skills imbalances among learners.
Through peer-to-peer learning, practical engagement with demonstrators and rigs in our Innovation Factory, and input from guest speakers, participants will by the end of the course have:
Identified their leverage as an educator to move beyond skills development into competency building.
Enhanced practical skills to deliver training in a more agile way, building a more resilient and innovation-minded future workforce
Built knowledge around different strategies to align student competency with rapid changes in the built environment.
